The IT movies have been one of the best R-rated horror movies in recent years. As with any movie, there will always be those interesting facts that never made the cut in the movie. If you're curious about them, here are some of the things worth knowing for any fan.
The Deadlights are the closest thing to Pennywise's true form that a human being is capable of perceiving. They are what allow Beverly to have her premonitions but these are enough to kill a human or drive them to insanity permanently.
Pennywise has a preference for preying on children, and there is a reason behind this. Pennywise can alter his appearance and how he is perceived by the person it's trying to control. Children have less complex minds than adults, making it easier to prey on them.
Pennywise is an ancient being that has existed before our universe but it was not the only one. Maturin is its greatest enemy and it basically looks like a turtle, a really big one. It represents the good to balance out the evil when both of them were created by Gan.
The novel gives us a good idea of IT's true form while it's on Earth. That is in the form of a giant spider. What is most interest here is that it appears to be pregnant. It's a possibility that IT is capable of reproduction with there being more than one.
Pennywise's closest from here on Earth is a spider. What supports the theory that it may actually be female is the fact that it is pregnant. It also supports another theory that it is capable of reproduction and there might be more than one in existence.
Pennywise goes on hibernation for 27 years at a time before it wakes up again and emerges from the sewers as seen in the movies. What is not shown or expressed in them is the fact that IT while it hibernates for that long, it also keeps awake for a year.
H.P Lovecraft has inspired numerous works of horror throughout the years and IT is no different. Lovecraft's had this idea of an other-dimensioned, incomprehensible monster capable of killing humans with its mere sight. Sound familiar?
Pennywise's true form while it's on Earth is a creature similar to looks similar to a spider but it was not really its ultimate form. As expressed in the novel and from its Lovecraftian inspiration, it's a creature from another dimension which true form is incomprehensible to humans.
