Rey's parentage has long been a discussion among Star Wars fans since the beginning of the Skywalker saga. Yet, neither The Force Awakens nor The Last Jedi revealed their true identities. This has led many fans to come up with theories about Rey's true origins, and we think it's time we finally delve into that! Who knows? One of these might be right!
The idea that she is the Emperor's daughter is based on the fact that she and the Emperor has an identical fighting style. And of course, as minor as it may seem to others, some can't help but point to the fact that they share a similar accent. On a more serious note, however, the Emperor has a history of cloning, so Rey could also be one of his clones, too.
If her parents were members of the First Order, we're betting they abandoned her on Jakku for fear of being discovered and punished. Do you recall what happened with Galen Erso and Jyn Erso in Rogue One? Rey's parents could have done the same thing.
What if Rey and Luke Skywalker are actually related all this time? One of the widely-shared theories regarding her origins is that she was created from Luke Skywalker's severed hand from The Empire Strikes Back. Yeah, it's outrageous, but if you've seen every Star Wars installment, you probably know how much they like making surprises and connections.
It's surely apparent and palpable by now: Han Solo and Leia Organa have always shown feelings of warmth toward Rey. It was as if she was their child. Also, in case you didn't notice, Han Solo seemed to know a lot about her. If it doesn't sound suspicious, we don't know what does.
In case you didn't know, Keri Russell is finally joining the Skywalker saga. Rumor has it that she'll play the part of a bounty hunter named Zori Bliss. There are also speculations she left Rey for a very crucial reason. What is it about? Well, that's something we are yet to find out until we see the film.
In Solo: A Star Wars Story, we see how the relationship between Han Solo and Qi'ra plays out. Sure, they might have followed their own paths at the end of the movie, but what if their roads crossed again sometime when Qi'ra was working under Darth Maul? And if Rey really was the result of their romance, we're sure they had to do what had to be done to protect her from the First Order. Also, they could have abandoned her to hide the truth from Leia Organa.
For those of you have watched The Last Jedi, you may recall Kylo Ren revealing to Rey that her parents were just mere drunkards from Jakku who sold her for drinking money. Okay, many of you believe that this isn't the case, and you probably can't be blamed for thinking such a thing. After all, how could Rey have so much power if she wasn't related to anyone who was strong with the force? How does she have memories of the Force Tree on Ach-To? There's just too much proof that tells us this theory is implausible.
No matter who Rey's parents are, there's a huge chance they're already gone. Some say Rey could have become so powerful growing up and accidentally killed them. Others think that the First Order took matters into their own hands to hide Rey for her own sake.
