Not all superheroes wear capes, some wear a habit. Not all superheroes live in a fancy flat, some live in the church. And who said all nuns are meek and mild? Some of them are badass! And by that, we mean nuns who are trained for hand-to-hand combat. Meet the Warrior Nun, Ava, and the rest of her sisters as they fight away demonic evil forces on earth! Here are all the things you need to know about Warrior Nun on Netflix!
It's the newest action-fantasy series on Netflix that premiered on July 3, 2020. And since we have known the giant streaming service to have a good reputation for being so good at creating shows based on novels (or comics), Warrior Nun exemplifies it even more. Simon Barry based this on the comic book Warrior Nun Areala. Fun Fact: Areala was the first warrior nun! So what is it all about? It's literally about a group of badass nuns who fight evil forces for decades.
Alba Baptista is a Portuguese actress who is poised to play the lead character that goes by the name Ava. Did you know that Warrior Nun is one of her first shows in the English language? She is joined by the esteemed cast of Warrior Nun, starting off with Toya Turner (Shotgun Mary), Lorena Andrea (Sister Lilith), Emilio Sakraya as (J.C.), Kristina Tonteri (Sister Beatrice), Tristan Uloa (Father Vincent), Thekla Reuten (Jillian Salvius), and a whole lot more!
You can definitely watch the first season of Warrior Nun on Netflix. And yes, it's a Netflix original series so you cannot watch it elsewhere. The entire Season 1 has 10 episodes, with 40 to 50 minutes running time. And that means you can binge-watch Warrior nun in just a day! (We love you so here's a shortcut link to watch Warrior Nun!)
BUT WAIT! For non-religious people, please don't freak out! Warrior Nun may have rooted in some religious references but it's definitely not 'religious' per se. The Bible verse that comes with each title serves as a hint of what the whole episode is all about. But then again, religious people, especially Catholics, may take delight in reading them as they brim with inspiration and deep meaning.
Well, it's not! But it has elements like the Church, the Bible (we kid you not as every episode title comes with a bible verse!), demons, angels, nuns (obviously), and priests, wrapped in fantasy and action.
