We've always had a fascination with the supernatural, monsters, and the undead. Out of all these monsters, no one is as well-known and as enigmatic as vampires. These silent hunters in the night have been the stuff of our legends and of our nightmares. For the uninitiated though, what exactly are vampires in the first place? A vampire is a creature born out of folklore that feeds on the essence - in this case, blood - of the living in order to survive. They are undead creatures that hunt for their prey in the shadows of the night. There have been many interpretations with regards to how vampires look. One of the most popular though came from the early 19th century. Vampires are described as wearing dark shrouds and have pale, almost white complexions. They are also described as charismatic and sophisticated creatures. They use this trait to be able to charm themselves into the favor of their intended prey.
The term "vampire", itself, was popularized in Western Europe back in the 18th century. In Eastern Europe, corpses were found staked and people were accused of vampirism. This led to mass panic and hysteria among people of those times. Looking at it from a more "rational" way has led some people to come up with their own theories and explanation. Vampires have been attributed to the body's ignorance of the natural process of decomposition. It was only natural that these creatures would have a natural enemy in the form of vampire hunters. These people are specifically trained and knowledgeable in ways on how to kill a vampire. They are equally charismatic and intriguing and if you would like to know more, read down below. We have made a list of who are the strongest vampire hunters in modern fiction that give vampires a run for their money.
Abraham Van Helsing of Dracula (1897) fame is your typical academic that you wouldn't assume to be involved with vampires and we can't blame you for thinking that way. What he lacks in physical prowess and abilities, he more than makes up for with this vast knowledge of vampires and more importantly, how to deal and kill these creatures.
No talk of vampire hunters would be complete without mentioning the Belmont Clan of Castlevania game franchise fame. To be more specific, its the clan's last known warrior descendant, Julius Belmont, the one that ultimately defeated Dracula. Even among the franchise's entire roster, he is widely considered as the strongest character that has never lost a fight. He can easily go toe-to-toe with Alucard and Soma Cruz aka Count Dracula's even more powerful reincarnation.
Buffy Summers aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a prime example of a perfectly executed TV show about vampire hunters. Buffy Summers belongs to a long line of vampire slayers that grants each generation's Chosen One powers to be able to battle against vampires. This is apparent throughout the show with her display of powerful abilities and physical strength. Outside her abilities as a vampire slayer is her positive character that is able to see the good in people.
Eric Brooks aka Blade is a vampire hybrid resulting from his mother being bitten by a vampire during his birth. This has given him supernatural... well, everything in addition to his increased healing factor which basically renders him immune to any attack, internal or external. Apart from this, he is also an accomplished marksman and swordsman as well as being a master in various martial arts disciplines. Really, at this point, any vampire shouldn't even bother.
Vampires beware for Alucard has come. As the main protagonist in the Hellsing anime series, he's the most powerful weapon of the Hellsing Organization. He's not just any vampire, he may be the most powerful character in the entire series that can only be rivaled by the likes of The Captain and Alexander Anderson.
