Just like the universe we live in, the Marvel cinematic universe is also expanding at a fast rate. Currently, on its Phase Four, fans are going to be treated with several superhero movies and series. We’ve got Black Widow, The Eternals, Sangchi, Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love and Thunder, and of course, the pivotal film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Why pivotal? In a simple comparison, the multiverse is like the infinity stones of Phase Three. In other words, it would be the driving force that would tie up all the movies and series in this phase. If you’re not familiar with Doctor Strange, he’s the Supreme Sorcerer who can access all the different alternate universes. He’s that powerful. Though Marvel and Disney are hush-hush about the future of the MCU, as early as now, we can say that Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will be one of the central characters.
Again, nothing is known about the Doctor Strange 2 movie aside from the main cast, title, and director. I think it’s worth mentioning that Scott Derrickson won’t be returning to Doctor Strange 2. Replacing him would be Sam Raimi, the guy who directed Toby Mcguire’s Spider-Man series. Yeah, you read that right. Will Toby’s Spider-Man make a cameo in this multiverse? We don’t know. However, we do know who are the most probable troublemakers to give the Supreme Sorcerer a headache. Are you curious to know who they are? I know, I know. There are just so many bad guys out there but we’ve weeded out most and kept only the top villains that could appear in Doctor Strange 2. Without any further ado, here are the bad guys.
We’ve already met Karl Mordo in the first movie of Doctor Strange. He was one of the Ancient One’s students and upon learning the evil side of his master, he turned his back against them. By the end of the movie, Mordo killed the magician Jonathan Pangborn, marking his turning point to the dark side. We’re already pretty positive that Brad Mordo is the top villain that could appear in Doctor Strange 2.
Non-comic fans may not be familiar with this antagonist but the Nightmare and his realm, the Dream Dimension, blend perfectly with Doctor Strange’s world. What makes Nightmare a perfect match for the Supreme Sorcerer? Well, it’s his ability to draw power from people’s dreams is freakishly insane and would really spice up the next installment of the series.
We’ve heard Shuma-Gorath be mentioned in the first movie of Doctor Strange countless of times. This creature even possessed the Ancient One, making Doctor strange fight his master. Shuma-Gorath has been around since the beginning of humanity, stirring chaos ever so often. A regular troublemaker, Shuma-Gorath ranks high on the list of the top villains that could appear in Doctor Strange 2.
One of the demonic villains in the Marvel cinematic universe is Satan’s closest replica, Mephistopheles. That’s quite a mouthful so let’s just call him Mephisto. This guy likes to stir up trouble on Earth and is integral to Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch’s characters. Doctor Strange 2 will be a perfect movie for the debut of this marauding rogue to the big screen.
Doctor Strange, being the most magical superhero in the Marvel cinematic universe, is high on the enemy list of the Empirikul army. These robots and beasts are extreme magic haters, aiming to purify the universe of its traces. If you think about it, a partnership between them and Brad Modo is very possible. With these, the Empirikul ranks high on the list of the top villains that could appear in Doctor Strange 2.
